New Year's Resolutions

I, just like everyone else in the world, can't believe how fast this past year went. I felt like I was in a time warp with the fast forward button pushed.

Last year, I told you that I don't make resolutions but goals. I did fairly well on this list and decided to keep the trend going.

Last year's List
  1. Get published (Haskell Interiors was published in the Signature Kitchens and Baths as the National First Place Winner for Transitional Kitchens)
  2. Finish the bonus room - we are 90% there.
  3. Backsplash in the kitchen - didn't get to this one!
  4. Wallpaper the Powder Bath- didn't get this one done either
  5. Window Treatments for our Master Bath- Nope, not this one
  6. Hang Art-- I finally bit the bullet and put holes in my walls. There is still plenty to do, but much progress has been made!
  7. Furniture--Many new pieces made it into our home this past year, but like in #6, we still need plenty more!
  8. Screened-in porch--yeah, didn't happen
  9. Backyard--yeah right
  10. Make a headboard--again, nope

So now that I look at it, I didn't get much on this list accomplished. I did update my list here- and have done much better on this one!

New Years 2012 ToDo List
1. House projects to ACTUALLY be completed (see upcoming post)

2. Get published AGAIN

3. Loose Weight-- I am down 20 lbs from delivery weight-woo hoo! But looking to loose about 30 more this next year!
And look like this again...

4. Create Brodie a play area along with craft area.

5. Paint more
Michelle Armas Painting

6. Give sewing another try

7. Go to some type of Interior Design Conference

8. Get organized-- I try...
A girl can dream, right?

9. Work on a LEED project

10. Become a Licensed Interior Designer
eeek!

Here's hoping I do better on this year's list than last years!

  1. You can do it!!! I say start with the kitchen backsplash! Chad and I did ours in less than a week working on it after work. It was messy but totally worth it! Good project for the winter...

  3. It’s true that formica countertops are cheaper than the others. Their price basically depends on the edge style, pattern, backsplash and installation cost. The latest innovation on this material is replicating the appear of a lot of natural stones which include granite and marble.

  4. Lily guess what: I have actually priced out three backsplashes and planning on it being done in a few months!

  5. Leigh Ann- I am sure I will need advice! Did you take the Step class? Is it worth it? did you study and then take the course or vice-versa?

  6. Suzie- I have not kept up with Formica- sounds like they have come a long way. Our countertops are Samsung Staron. They are solid surface. I knew I wanted white countertops and solid surface seemed like the best direction to go because of stain resistance, anti-microbial features, and durability. So far I am super pleased!

  7. Whitney,
The step class is a definite investment, but SO worth it. I don't know how anyone passes without it. It teaches you how to take the test, how to study, and what you should improve on individually, as well as provides loads of useful study materials to take home. I especially like that it gives you an actual practice practicum, because that is by far more difficult than the mutiple choice. Good luck, I know you will do great!

  8. Thanks Jen- did you take the course and then study or vice-versa?

  9. I took the class and then studied. In my opinion, studying before hand would have just been wasting time for me since I wasn't sure exactly what or how to study yet. You will be surprised what you will actually be tested on and what NCIDQ finds important!
